Iron workers work with structural iron, precast concrete, reinforcing, bridges, windmills, heavy rigging (machinery moving), and pre-engineered building siding. Ironworkers are on the job at large industrial projects around mid-Indiana,including Subaru Indiana Automotive and Tate and Lyle. Purdue University include the Honors College, Active Learning Center, Rolls Royce facility, Football Performance Complex (Mollenkopf Athletic Center), Bechtel Innovation Design Center, and Creighton Hall. Road and infrastructure work includes the Interstate 65 corridor, and commercial work includes Westminster Village in West Lafayette. Safety and training are top priorities for members who work with structural iron,precast concrete,rebar (concrete reinforcing), bridges, windmills, heavy rigging (machinery moving), and pre-engineered building siding. Community service activities include hosting the International Ironworkers Apprentice Competition and donating to multiple charities. The local also supplies space for the Union Food Pantry in Lafayette. Members serve 17 Indiana counties. Benefits package includes overtime pay, healthcare plan, pension and annuity. The national association is the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers.
