Indiana?s Building Trades Unions Endorse Bayh for U.S. Senate
Indianapolis, IN ? The executive board of the Indiana State Building and Construction Trades Council formally endorsed former Indiana Governor and United States Senator Evan Bayh for election to the U.S. Senate. The council, which represents 75,000 union construction workers in Indiana, cited Bayh?s unofficial position as a statesman who always puts people above politics as the reason for its enthusiastic endorsement. ?Like former Congressman Lee Hamilton and former U.S. Senator Richard Lugar, Senator Bayh dismisses the obstructionists and embraces those committed to making a difference. This is what America needs now more than ever,? said Mark McCleskey, president of the council.
The council has a long history of working with the pragmatic leaders on both sides of the aisle. The council previously endorsed John Gregg for Governor citing Gregg?s common sense commitment to infrastructure investment.
