Painters 80

Before the doors can open, every project needs the finishing touch. That’s where the Painters and Allied Trades Local 80 comes in.

Recently they've added sparkle across the Purdue University campus—Discovery Learning Center, Hockmeyer Hall, DuhmeHall, First Street Towers and the Purdue Airport.   ve

They’ve also worked at Ivy Tech in Logansport, Bob Rohrman Auto Dealership, St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Sunnyside Elementary and the Indiana National Guard Armory in Lafayette.

An ambitious, four-year apprenticeship program with 576 classroom and 6,000 on-the-job training hours prepares members for their profession. Apprentices spend a full week each quarter in the classroom in Evansville at the statewide district council training center. The Painters accepts 15 to 20 apprentices each year.

The local also hosts training for all members covering safety, lead abatement and lift certification. OSHA 10, OSHA 30, first aid and CPR courses are also available.

Members generally contribute their time to Habitat for Humanity, Labor's Family Day Picnic and the Union Food Pantry. Over the years the painters have volunteered for numerous other community projects.
