Road Sprinkler Fitters 669

When fire strikes, the work of Road Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 proves its worth by saving buildings and lives.

Members install fire protection systems in sports arenas, office buildings, warehouses and universities. Its recent projects: Clarian Arnett Medical Center, Lilly Tippecanoe Labs and numerous Purdue University buildings.

Preparation for their life-saving work begins with a five-year apprenticeship program that includes correspondence courses through Washtenaw Community College, classroom sessions and on-the-job training.

Throughout their careers, members upgrade and refresh their skills each year at special sessions on fire protection, new applications and safety.
The union has a scholarship program, with study funds awarded to members’ children and grandchildren.
