Members install fire protection systems in sports arenas, office buildings, warehouses and universities. Its recent projects: Clarian Arnett Medical Center, Lilly Tippecanoe Labs and numerous Purdue University buildings. Preparation for their life-saving work begins with a five-year apprenticeship program that includes correspondence courses through Washtenaw Community College, classroom sessions and on-the-job training. Throughout their careers, members upgrade and refresh their skills each year at special sessions on fire protection, new applications and safety. Established: 1915 John D.
