| testasdfBoilermakers 374 Constructing, maintaining and repairing boilers in heavy industry make members of Boilermakers Local 374 critical contributors to local and state economies. You will see specialized craftspeople on the job at steel mills, utility power generation plants, chemical plants, and other industrial sites. Because many of these workplaces pose potentially dangerous conditions, safety training is a top priority for the Boilermakers. Safety is continually taught and reviewed with members by the union and the owners, a tri-partite alliance that has proven successful at minimizing lost-time accidents. Local 374 covers all of Indiana and is the largest Boilermaker local in the nation. To prepare for their demanding work, apprentices complete a four-year, 6,000-hour program of study, classroom instruction and on-the-job-training. Applications are accepted monthly. Boilermakers volunteer for service projects throughout Indiana and participate in job fairs, career days and job-to-work programs.
