| Laborers 274 From infrastructure to industries and schools to hospitals, Laborers 274 contributes significantly to building Greater Lafayette’s infrastructure and facilities. Recent projects include Benton and White County Wind Farms, Pearl River Sewer Tunnels, addition to Mackey Basketball Arena, upgrades to State Road 26 & 43, County Road 350 South, St. Elizabeth Hospital East, Hoosier Heartland road and bridge construction in Carroll & Tippecanoe Counties, addition to Sunnyside Middle School and various highway and road resurfacing projects within the area. Currently, 32 apprentices are completing the 4,000-hour classroom and hands-on training program. These professionals master a multitude of subjects including global positioning systems, hazardous waste removal, lead and asbestos abatement, blueprint reading, transit and level instrumentation, scaffold erection and dismantling, highway concrete technology, mason tending, asphalt placement, acetylene and arc welding and large pipe laying. Safety and first aid are also learned. During winter months, upgrade training is offered at their training facility in Logansport, Indiana. Volunteer projects include the Union Food Pantry, Labor's Family Day Picnic, Northwest Central Labor Council's annual Christmas party and collecting for Dollars Against Diabetes.
